If you haven't tried it yet, now is the time. Almost every internet surfer uses bookmarks or favorites to keep tract of the websites they find most useful and would like to revisit. It's easy, fast and works relatively effectively, but not without limitations
Limitations of conventional bookmaking.
Difficult to browse bookmarks on different computer systems
No quick way to share or compare your bookmarks with other users
Have you ever wondered what websites other users are actually bookmarking? You can browse the search engines, but they'll give you a list of the most "relevant" sites according to whatever keywords you typed in, but that won't necessarily be the greatest or most "popular" destination.
Social Bookmaking allows you to
Easily access your bookmarks from any internet connected computer
See how many other people have bookmarked the same sites as you
Look at popular sites for any chosen keyword tag
Browse categories of bookmarked sites
Democratically promote the sites you think are the best (the sites with the most bookmarks receive a lot of traffic.)
Q. All that sounds nice but is it catching on?
Absolutely. http://del.icio.us/ the largest social networking site is currently estimated by Alexa to be the 497 most visited website on the Internet and I would definitely expect that number to rise.
The idea of people choosing their favorite sites and everyone having access to that information is very powerfull. Don't expect it to go away. As people become more comfortable and the user base grows, I would expect the social bookmarking sites to start becoming an initial search destination, in some ways more valuable then the search engines, because it's by definition human edited, although with every new technology there is always a way to artificially manipulate it.
I haven't run into any spam, but when the traffic levels get higher and the "pay off' for spammers increases, I would expect spam and artificial manipulation strategies to start showing up.
What do I have to do?
It's very simply, infact it's too simply. It should have a few more steps.. I'm kidding of course. If you following the following 4 steps you'll be using social bookmarking in 3 minutes.
Now, there are A LOT of social bookmarking sites out there, but only one extremely popular one and that is http://del.icio.us/ I'm going to test out some of the other services and I'll be reporting back my findings in this blog, but for now and if it's your first time start with the biggest and most popular.
Who wants to have multiple bookmaking sites? For SEO reasons it would be a good idea, but I'll get into that later on.
How to join del.icio.us/ and start using social bookmarking:
Open up a new browser window and go to: http://del.icio.us/
Click register in the upper right hand corner
Fill out info (note username is used in your bookmarking page so pick something that will work well for promotion, I personally always use solomonrothman, because I purposely don't want to be anonymous, keywords might be a good idea if your primary goal is SEO)
Click register and install browser buttons (very fast and simple)
Optional things to do next
1. Log in to your account and click on profile. You can add a link with a title of your choice to your bookmarks page. This option is turned off by default, make sure you add this.
BOOKMARK your own website. It will help other people find out about them and direct traffic to them. Have you friends bookmark them too. The more bookmarks you get the higher your sites will appear in the searches from del.icio.us/
Getting the most out of Tags

Every time you book mark a site you're brought to a page with a title and an area where you type in tags to describe what the page is about. USE LOTS OF TAGS, The more the better, but please don't spam them. Each tag is a keyword that will help other users find that site.

Take a look at my bookmark page on declicious
http://del.icio.us/solomonrothman
I don't have a lot of items there yet, but I plan on using it solely in the future to completely replacing standard bookmarking, so you may want to watch that page. I spend my life infront of this computer screen and I happen to come across a lot of great links and resources.
Please bookmark this website on del.icio.us
Click on the bookmark link on the sidebar, or use your new button on your toolbar.
SEO / Internet Marketing Hint
Add a bookmark this on Del.icio.us button to your website.
If you're running a wordpress blog install the del.icio.us bookmark this plugin here: http://www.arnebrachhold.de/2005/06/21/delicious-bookmark-this-wordpress-plugin
The more bookmarks, the more traffic you'll recieve.

Cheap Web hosting
Your quest for cheap web hosting has finally come to an end, because if you keep reading you would get to know not only how to find cheap web hosts around every corner on the internet but also how to find cheap web hosts who are also good service providers, have a large customer database, extensive support and professional security, too good to be true? Read on.
Balance is the key, find the balance of services and the price they are offered at. Finding the right balance makes the most difference. The problem with most web hosting beginners is that it is not as easy task all the time to find a web hosting provider with proper balance. But if you are looking for a web hosting providers who are in your pocket's range and you still want to make the best of them, look for the following elements, which you must acquire in your affordable package to get the maximum out of your web hosting experience.
The four 'S' of cheap web hosting, the Speed, Security, Services and Support.
Speed:
Speed is the first and foremost factor to be considered when buying a web hosting package that already seems compromised in financial terms. How to tell if your web site is going to be speedy enough 'before' purchasing the web space? simple, just observe the downloading and response speed of the web hosting provider's web site, which obviously (and its never wrong) is hosted on their own web servers. If the provider's web site is working fine and loading fast and is very responsive then chances are that by choosing those hosts, your website would have the same attributes.
Security:
Now if you don't have corporate money in your pockets, do not mean you have to compromise on the security of your data, and your website. Security is a key issue when deciding to chose a web host. Read as much as is available on the host's web site about their security measures and preferences. Talk to their customer representatives and ask them questions about their security. Find out about some of the previous customers of the company and send them and email requesting information about the web hosting performance of the said company. Gather as much information as you can, remember, the more you know, the more secure you are.
Services:
Your affordable web host must offer you some of the very essential services without any additional fees. These services would include features like Control Panel; the front-end software to manage the whole of your account in a point and click manner, additional domains, sufficient disk space, comfortable bandwidth, email addresses, built in scripts and programs e.g. the message board, website statistics. Some web hosts even provide search engine submission services on very low cost shared web hosting solutions. So what is basically required here is just a proper research on the available options and their comparison with each other.
Support:
And last but not least is the support. The web hosting support must be 24/7 and the service must be online with beginner help and FAQs. This ensures that the web host have a huge customer database and they are manned enough to cater to the needs of there customers and offer them quality product and services not to mention top notch security. Though you must not forget to document all the contact information about your web host off of their website and somewhere with you, this is because incase of a web server downtime you would know where to contact the web hosts off site, because there own web site may probably be hosted on the same web server and may be down along with all the rest of the websites.
When you find all the above specifications along with a good price in a web host you would definitely know that you have finally found a good web host. You would be certain about this discovery of yours when you have the best speed, top security, user friendly interface, option of additional scripts and software and the most important, you would be happy about the price.
I have reviewed and experienced many web hosting providers. I have used expensive and cheap and found out that some of the very best ones were the cheap ones. So you must also be always on the hunt for the next best company out there offering just a tad more than what you are getting now, maybe in the same price or maybe even in less because they do exist. Go ahead and do your basic research to find a cheap web hosting company with all the above qualities, that way you will not only just save money, you will be having a rare and pleasant time doing it all.

Making Big Money By Going Small on the Net
You will hear over and over that the quickest way to find success on the net is to find an area with little competition. I second this advice.
Making Big Money By Going Small on the Net
Going small can refer to both marketing and business choice. In and of itself, you are trying to find a segment of the general market for a service or product line. One then develops a solution for the needs of that segment and then markets to it to get the word out. Let's take a look at an example using one of the biggest companies in the world.
Toyota is a huge multinational company. At first glance, it appears that Toyota focuses on the auto business as a whole both from a marketing and production standpoint. This view is correct. Notwithstanding this fact, Toyota is excellent when it comes to identifying sub-markets that are wide open.
Toyota will search for niches for which it can supply a product in need. Toyota was one of the first companies to realize there was a group of car buyers who would be very interested in environmentally friendly cars. To answer this need, it came up with the legendary Prius. The Prius is the first mass production hybrid car. Where other car manufacturers saw Toyota taking a huge risk, Toyota saw it as an opportunity to identify a new niche and establish its brand. In marketing, it is often the first brand on the scene that takes the day.
Once Toyota took the plunge, it pursued an effective marketing plan. It didn't promote the Prius in just any media. It focused on media outlets that were watched, read or listened to by people concerned about the environment. For example, it heavily promoted the car through environmental groups and their publications. As the only game in town at that time, Toyota not only dominated the business area – it was the entire niche.
Going small translates just as well to the Internet. In fact, your first sites should be focused on identifying niches and providing products or services to accommodate the need of those prospects.
One of the biggest mistakes made by new businesses on the web is biting off more than they can chew. You are not going to compete against Amazon for general book sales. On the other hand, you might be able to pound Amazon into the ground in the rare book market or in a specific sub-market such as home improvement periodicals. The point is to try to focus both your site and marketing on a segment of the market that is not already dominated.
Being a big fish in a small pond has its limitations, but it sure can be profitable!
